I had a baddie on my report but I just got it removed a few days ago. How ever I have a maxed out credit card with a 94% utilization. The fico credit simulator says that if I pay my full balance my credit score will be between 737-777. I'm mind blown and just wondering if this is for real.
That's a great question. i have always wondered as well.
Reducing the util% is one of the fastest and easiest way to get a bump. How much bump? Well, I wouldn't put too much faith in the estimator.
The estimator i notice is taking into account over a 24 month time period also.
yep, I just went and checked as I remember it also had to do with the aging over 24 months. The following message comes up:
This simulation was based on your paying down 90%-100% of your overall credit card balances over a period of 24 months. In general, your score will be helped as your credit history lengthens and you establish FICO® healthy behavior. So this score simulation took into account both your lower balances and the aging of your credit history.
Paying down your utilization from 94% to 9% or less will give you a very good bump. I always estimate 5-10 points for every 10% paid down.
I do look for the lowest bump and hope for the bigger.
