?paid collections deleted in NYS after 5 years?

hello everyone,

I was recently informed that paid collections in nys have to be deleted by the CRAs after 5 years (thanks NormanFH ). That is great news. now I have a new question.

I have a collection and a charge off from accounts that were opened when I lived in NYS but I moved to Florida 2 years ago. Does the rule still apply or do would I have to be a current resident of NYS? Also does this law apply to charge offs as well?

I believe you have to currently reside in New York. And as far as I know, yes, it does apply to paid charge offs as well.

No, it does not apply to you if you are not currently a resident of NYS.
