I am working to repair my credit AND purchase a home. The bank requires an old account from T-mobile (6 years old) to be paid or otherwise removed from my credit report. T-Mobile's collection agency sold it to another agency, and I have not been contacted regarding this account in years. The amount owed is $556.00. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with pay-for-delete accounts for residents of NC. I have requested (over the phone, stupidly) that collection accounts be deleted in the past and they say they "aren't allowed" to do that. I would like to pay and get this account removed, but I don't want to dig a bigger hole because I don't know all the rules. Where can I find more info? Thanks!
