rebuiling starting to fail!

Just logged into my credit karma account to see my score fell 65 points! A new collection has been added from a CO....$990 ATT bill from 2010(not sure why its that high?)

now i'm sad

i knew it would eventually catch up to me.....they have been doing soft pulls and now that they are seeing activity they decided to bite me where it hurts...this and a couple of failed apps have started me to wondering will it ever get better???

I'm sick Smiley Sad

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

what do i do now? pfd? or try and dispute this....if i can reach a settlement is that better than trying to wait for it to fall off? $990 is alot of $$ to be giving away if this is not going to go away!

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

I hate to be rude... BUT

If you owe the debt - you KNEW it would haunt you - the best skill for rebuilding and holding a strong score is responsibility.

Search what has worked or ATT try to get a PFD or something in motion- get it taken care of and behind you and move forward- it will be refreshing when its taken care of and not just hiding keeping you worried

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

You owe the money for services rendered. They may not pfd. If they do not pfd, it could remain on your report for seven years and six months from DOFD. You would not be the first person to have that happen. I have one red account flag currently reporting. I owed it, paid it late and in full, after I had a cash flow problem for a while. My problem. Still I am in the upper 700's and qualified last spring for 1.99% on a new car loan. This past  summer I apped for an airline reward card, instantly approved. It will become a positive reporting account in less than four years. At that point I will be totally clean on 27 trade lines. Yes, it is my only messed up account. As you can tell, I am not overly concerned about this hic up that my recent lenders saw. I call it honesty and transparency.

Updated scores 3/7/21 TU 849, EQ 829, Ex 818 (all Fico scores) Remember the Three P's: Pay early in Full, Pay on Time, Patience

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

DV them, see what they send back.  Then go for the PFD.  I know sometimes it gets frustrating, but getting everything out and over now will make it better in the near future. Good luck to you!

Re: rebuilding starting to fail!

That's not being rude, that the truth and I own up to this and many other mistakes in the past....now I am in the process of fixing these issues and making a lifestyle change and need to come up with the best strategy! Thanks for the advice

Re: rebuilding starting to fail!

No one is perfect.

Learn from this experience.

1st step:

Debt Validation

2nd step:

Pay-for-Deletion

Stick to your guns.

They may come back with "No" initially and they should if they're smart.

They want to see how much they can get from you.

Never discuss payments on the phone.

Everything in writing.

If the initial pay-for-deletion is denied, send another one to a different contact.

Do some research and find at least 3 different contacts to request the pay-for-deletion.

If after the 3rd request you're still denied please let us know.

DON'T GIVE UP & DON'T BEAT YOUR SELF UP!

Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring.
