Re: rebuilding starting to fail!

Negotiate for a smaller amount and ask for deletion.  If they don't budge, ask to PIF for deletion.  Either way, it's better to pay it off than to let it report as an outstanding debt.  It will drag you down until it falls off.

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

First, congrats.

Second, you're probably going to want to deal with that eventually.  If all that went down in 2010, you have until 2017-ish until you don't need to worry about it hitting your credit report.  That's a long time to have to worry about it.

Re: rebuiling starting to fail!

Did you talk to receivables management within AT&T?  I've seen AT&T debts taken by AT&T for years after a delinquent account has been closed.  I pulled this number off of Google. 1-800-947-5096

Almost definitely, that's who AT&T uses.

However, you're unable to start service with AT&T if you have a past debt with them, they have you pay it on the spot even if in a retail store.  This to me tells me they don't fully sell the debt, am I off on that?
