removing a satisfied judgement?

I've looked around a bit and saw a lot of differing advice.  From what I gathered, it varies considerably state to state.  I would very much like to begin some sort of process to have a judgement removed from my wife's CR, but don't know where to begin at all.  The judgement was paid in full in 2009.  Should I go straight to the courthouse and file a motion to vacate, then dispute with CRAs like I have seen?  Or would it be wiser to go to the property management's lawyer who filed the original and see if they will vacate since it was PIF 2.5 years ago already?
