I had a sprint acount the went to collection in 2011 and in 2012 i settled the account for half. when i found this forum earlier this year i decided to call sprint and ask if i could finish paying them off and see if they would recall the ca. They told me if i payed 217.53 they would recall erc since they have a good working relationship, that was 4/25/15 and to this day it has not been removed and now just get the run around from sprint, but they where fast to offer me new cell service.
I disputed enhanced recovery with all three CA's and they fell off almost instantly. Enhanced Recovery no longer has the reporting rights for the CRA's and its easy to remove
Once you paid the debt back when, the collection authority of the debt collector was automatically terminated due to lack of any remaining debt for them to collect.
In order for a debt collector to be required to delete their reported collection, their collection authority must have been, under CRA policy, terminated PRIOR to payment of the debt. Debt collectors are informed under CRA policy not to delete their collection based on payment of the debt.
The OC cannot retroactively now terminate prior to your having paid, so CRA policy mandates no credit report deletion.
You would need to get the debt collector to voluntarily delete their reporting.
The OC cannot make a binding agreement that another party will delete their reporting.
The OC apparently told you what they thought you wanted to hear, and had no authorty to make a promise on behalf of another.
