If a CRA failed to catch a BK from years ago, but are just now placing it on your report can I dispute it?
Unless, how many years ago was it? And are they reporting the proper age now? If they are reporting it as new that would be disputable, or if it is old enough to have dropped off (10 years isn't it?) you could dispute that.
No.
The fact that you have benefitted for years by lack of showing of the information is not basis for asserting the information is now inaccurate.
The FCRA does not place a time period upon entry of accurate information into your file.
It places an exclusion period that is based on a date, such as DOFD, that is not dependent upon when the information is first entered.
Thus, delay in initial entry of information does not extend its date of ultimate exclusion.
Your file and credit report is now more complete and accurate.
It is common for public record information not to be unearthed by CRAs in every search when they do their own search of public record information.
Some public records are, for example, recorded in searchable on-line databases, while others require wading through piles of courthouse or other agency stacks of paper.
