No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
CU are good to do business with, They generally will give credit where a bank won't.
I would just open an account with them and see how things go. If you like it then transfer your account from the bank. If you don't, keep your bank account.
By messing up I believe they mean the cards are horrid as far as fees and such.
I used them both to rebuild because it was all I could get. Once I no longer needed them I closed both of them well before the next AF was due.
I would not close them now. Let them age until the AF is due again. If you can get something before that time, close them.
