I have the following neg items on my CRs:
$1300 collection from hunter warfield - paid - DOFD 2/06 - disputing item as dates incorrect on CR
$110 collection from Cox Communications - paid DFOD 11/05 CA agreed to PFD
$665 collection from Comcast - paid DFOD 9/08 - disputed as dates incorrect on CR
$1007 CAP1 charge off - paid DFOD 9/07 - will dispute as dates wrong on CR
Chase CC account - settled - DFOD 11/05 - sent GW
Discover CC - settled - DFOD 2/07 - sent GW
1 30 day late payment on auto loan 12/07 - sent GW
I bit the bullet and paid off all of these accounts last week as most wouldn't budge re: PFD. Will try disputing as the dates are wrong on the CRs for most accounts. If that doesn't work will try GWs each month until the fall off my CRs.
Any other advice?
Were the dates actually wrong? Or were these frivilous disputes to attempt an early removal? I have seen this work from time to time, but on the ones it won't, it might hinder future GW attempts.
I would always work the GW avenue first before trying anything backhanded, mainly because if you dispute it, you may jeopordize any chance of good will in the future, as they may think of you as kind of a pest now.
I also feel the same way about GW letters every single month... I know that logic says pester until they crack, but you ARE trying to harbor some good will.. You might want to vary up your approaches based on how they seem to be reacting to your GWs..
If you already disputed, I suppose its too late, but I would never go that route personally.
