tax lien

Is there any way to have a paid tax lien removed before it falls off after 10 years?

Re: tax lien

Thanks, but this wouldn't help me as it is not a federal lien, but a county personal tax lien on a boat that I owned and sold. I only owned the boat for about 3 days and sold it on Jan 2nd. I did receive one notice but forgot about it until 10 years later in 2013 when I was checking my credit. Once I knew about it, I paid it. It is only on my TU report.

Re: tax lien

In my state (NC), they also have a mechanism by which you can request to have a paid tax lien removed.  Search the Department of Revenue where the tax lien was filed and see if can find the equivalent.

Re: tax lien

You would have to get the reporting entity to actually withdraw the lien in order to get it off your reports and FYI it reports for 7 years from date of payment.,
