why are my credit scores so different?

I've been using MyFico for credit alerts for a while now.

Today I bought my Fico score and got this:

Your FICO® score at Equifax is

638

But today I also bought my 3 reports through TrueCredit...

at that site my scores are:

TransUnion  Experian  Equifax       731     726

 722

Which are much better than expected.   Which Equifax is correct?

(BTW:  according to MyFico, I have increased my score from 589 to 638 since August.  Is that about normal compared to others?)

Is my fico score at MyFico the same as the Equifax  score on True Credit?

Re: why are my credit scores so different?

The True credit scores are FAKO not FICO.

You can buy your real FICO EQ score directly from their site.  TU you can get from the cs.com website.  All the others are not real FICO scores.

Edited to add:  Experian stopped offering FICO scores to the consumer some time ago.  If you are getting their score, rest assured they are not real.

Re: why are my credit scores so different?

thanks for the quick reply... my Fico TU score is 628... grrrrr.

I have a couple of small collections that I've paid off over a year ago that's just dragging down my scores.  I just opened a credit card (my first in a long while) and I plan on only using it to increase my credit (use it for 25 bucks a month and paying it off every month).

I'm agressively trying to get the two small collections (168 and 450 bucks) removed but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.

Would "piggy backing" a credit card help since I don't have any debt outside of my morgatage (which is always paid on time for 10 years)...

AU can help.  I would continue to try to have the paid collections removed.

Your scores through True Credit are also called Vantage Scores which is on a scoring margin from 501-990.  They also relate into a graded score from A-F which low 7's puts at a C-.  You can't even really call the true credit scores fako anymore since vantage scores is the new method meant to compete with Fico scoring and has a totally different scoring method and point range.

Starting Score: 1/11/2010 TU=566 EQ=562
Current Score: 2/16/2010 TU=623 EQ=601 EX=614
Goal Score: 700

Re: why are my credit scores so different?

Yes being added as an AU can help you IF the account is older than any of yours, IF the payment history is long and clean, IF the utilization is very low, and IF it will report to the CRA's. Not all cards will do this. You need to ask the company first. You will inherit the entire history of this account. One caveat however; if this account starts to go south your credit will be affected as well. Keep that in mind.

From a BK years ago to:

8/09 TU-765 EQ- 783
9/09 EX pulled by lender 802
