Re: $1,200 a month on food

Do you shop at whole food exclusively??

Its true that true organi food is expensive but for a single person foodwise, I would say $300 max (excluding dining out)

IDK if you have a "food for less" by you or not.  but if you do.....for 24.99 you get a 12 lb turkey, 4 lb ham, bag potatoes, two cans of vegetables, a thing of gravy, and rolls.

I just looked at my expenses on Microsoft Money and realized that I have spent approx. $1,200 per month on food in the last couple of months.   As a single person that is obviously not good.   Granted I use dining out as entertainment but still.  Keep in mind that this includes dining out, groceries, household supplies, toiletries, etc.

So, my question is - how much should I strive to spend each month instead of $1,200?  I need an amount to budget each week that I can live with.  Suggestions??

I try to limit myself to $150/2 weeks.

For a family of 4 for eating out/groceries/ toiletries we average about 700 per month - about 500 of that is groceries. The one thing I can suggest that will cut spending significantly is coupons.
