Another computer question

I got a new laptop and sometimes I hit something and it totally shrinks the words on the screeen and I can't figur eout how to make it bigger again!  I have no idea what I'm doing.  I think I was over in the side thing that makes the screen go up and down and hit the mouse.....and it shrunk .  I can barely see this!

I did find the magnifier feature but hate that .....just want to know what button/s to push to bring it closer.  Thanks in advance

Re: Another computer question

Its a new feature with Windows 7 -- allowing you to zoom in and out of webpages, PDFs, word documents, etc.  Very easy to do.  On a desktop computer you click CTRL, and scroll the mouse button or hit CTRL and the + or - key on the keyboard.

+1

but i believe this was available pre-windows 7, being able to zoom in/out of webpages.

definitely zoom was available for PDFs and word docs as those software functions are independent of the OS.

but +11111

Re: Another computer question

Hitting the CTRL + buttons makes the Web broswer large and hitting  the CTRL - buttons makes it smaller.

Re: Another computer question

Yes, the control-plus and minus zoom keys and the scroll wheel zoom have been part of web browsers since Windows XP days. My new work laptop has a mildly annoying feature: the keystroke combinatiion for rotating the screen by 90 degrees is very similar to one I use a lot when working with Excel, so I hit that combination about once a day. Easy to change back, but still annoying so I'm gonna look for a way to disable it.
