I just got my replacement card and it is the new design and it looks SOOOO much better than the old design. I looking forward to trying out the contactless ability.
Just got mine today. Its so hard to get a good pic. Its like a sheet of alunimun foil. Blinding in the sun. Plus there is a line that goes from the center of the circle to the bottom of the card at a 45 degree angle that you cant see until its in your hands. The back is more of a matte finish. With darker air brushed corners look. And as the other poster said. It is contact less. Yes the edges are red. And the new MC logo. This was a upgrade from platnium over a year ago, as it states on the back of the card. I do like all the info is on the back like the disco card. I will never use my phone to pay for a purchase. Looks better than my QS WEMC. But I like the WEMC logo on the front of my other QS. Wish it was on the front is this one.
If I hadn't just got a custom image card I'd probably call or chat them up to see about getting the new version just for the contactless payment.
I have three old QS cards and when I called about these new look cards I was told you had to be approved for an upgrade which for some reason I didn't qualify but they told me to keep checking back.
Interesting. I currently hold a QS card from approx. 4 years ago. I wanted to upgrade to the new version, but was told that because it's considered to be a "whole new product", as it's now on the WEMC network, I would have to reapply.
So - just for grins and giggles, I just called Cap1 back and have now been advised that I am eligible to upgrade to the WEMC QS. I need to call back tomorrow and speak with an account specialist. They've noted my account that I will be calling back to inquire.
And when I do, I will be letting them know that I was just approved for a Chase FU with more than 4x the current limit on my QS (currently $6500), and with a lower APR. Let's see if I can get them to sweeten the pot a bit. Fingers crossed!

Of all the new stuff that's come out of Capital One lately, this is one thing I'm happy to hear!
Please let us know how it goes. If yours works out, I'll likely combine my new Venture WEMC into my soon-to-be 10 years old QS MC, and then have it "upgraded" to WEMC. (I openly admit in my case I'm not likely to use WEMC bennies, but it will be interesting to see if it's possible).

I think the CSR misunderstood your request. I believe they got card replacement with an upgrade, which are two different things.

No one has been able to get an upgrade to the WEMC, only to the WMC. I'm hoping they will change the policy soon.

I got curious and chatted with a representative requesting to upgrade. They said that I would have to apply for a new card and that the WEMC is considered a different card/product. I'm really trying my best to not apply for a new card and should really be in the garden for the next year or so. I've opened 10 new cards this year. But I can't really complain since I've accrued nearly $2,000 in rewards . I almost feel bad for credit card companies since I pay 0 in finance charges and their only source to offset a fraction of what they've given me is through interchage fees.
