Carigslist Auto Spam

Was looking for cars on craigslist today and spotted at least 25 spam ads for cars this morning. I know they are spam because noone is selling a late model car with clean title and low miles for $1500. And when you see several similar ads with pretty much the same text and price, it's pretty clear it's all the same person. They all say to contact a person at this email for questions. Each email address in the ads are different.

So what are they hoping to gain? What's the point?

Re: Carigslist Auto Spam

Money!

You can sell a list of 30,000 email addresses for money, you can sell an email list of 1000 active responding emails for even more.

Pretty much most are just selling or re-using your name, address, phone, email for spam.

Some might be trying to steal identity as well.

The moment you spot something wrong, STOP !

I had a real bad experience with Craigslist but didn't succumb to the misleading ads. Try local used car sellers, grab a free  auto book from your supermarket or just go to standard KBBs or Edmunds....CL is too scary...
