I would definitely say my expectations have been exceeded. Started rebuilding in May, 6 months post-BK:
May-- Credit One Visa $400->$600-CLOSED
June-- Quicksilver (PC from Platinum) $3000->$3800
July-- Discover it $1000->$2300
July--Victoria's Secret (SCT) $500
July-- NFL Extra Points $3500-> $4500
Nov-- jetBlue Plus $4000
Dec-- Quicksilver $10000
If I could go back, I would have passed on Credit One and Victoria's Secret, and I would have apped Quicksilver while it was still offered as a Visa, but hindsight is always 20-20, right? Scores are currently EQ 693, TU 652, EX 680. jetBlue Plus and Quicksilver came sooner than planned, but I am set for some serious gardening!
Yes.....1 year ago, cc were the furthest thing from my mind. I was paying cash for everything except for my auto loan.
June- Barclays RMC $1500
July- QS1 $1600
July- Penfed RVS $7500
September - Wells Fargo $7600
September- Marvel $5000
October- NavyFed $10000
December- Discover $1000
Goal accomplished, in that I didn't apply for any new credit cards....for the 2nd year. Last card I applied for and got was the Diners Club Premiere at $50K. Yes, an insane CL and that was in October 2014. Now sitting at ~ $200K in available credit, far more than I need. Once things shake out in the first 3 months of the year and seeing where my retirement income will be coming from this year, more than a few cards are going to get retired. Already retired some, more to go.
One unfortunate loss coming up -- JP Morgan Select is going away, being closed by the MotherShip, JP Morgan Chase. Being replaced by Chase Sapphire Preferred, which I already have, so I'll simply combine that CL with my current CL for CSP. This card was NOT on my retirement list, but can't stop it from happening. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
Had no personal goals, but did want to get started with business credit. Nothng specific in terms of cards or limits, but did get several. Also managed to get a few personal cards that hadn't been anticipated. 2017 should keep moving towards soft pull stuff, getting AAoA to 10 years, and keeping utility under 5% across the board.
I started 2016 with a vague notion of getting a card "Just for emergencies." Then I found this forum and realized how much money I could be getting back on the things I'm buying. I ended the year with 8 cards, an auto loan and a reasonable path to purchasing a house for my two boys. 2017 will be all about living within my means and taking care of my wife's credit.
Yes -
1) PIF of all cards without any interest fees.
2) No accounts closed due to prolonged inactivity.
3) No CLDs
Back in May 2016 when I deciced to fix my Credit.. All I had was my CapOne Platinum with 2K credit. Had it since 2011, from 1K it took 5yrs to grow to 2K. My scores would range from 550 - 575.
Total Credit:
As of May 2016 - $2K
In a span of 7 months
As of December 31, 2016 - $32,700
I can say I achieved my goals for 2016! Wait surpassed them too! See my sig for updated Credit Score..
