Ever apply for a job...

..and instead of a job... well, let me explain:

I applied for a job I was qualified for at Fulton Bank, about 3 weeks ago.

Never heard back from them until yesterday. I received a letter. I assumed, in this day and age of rapid information and electronic mail delivery, that this letter was a rejection on their behalf and that they chose someone more qualified, or they hired internally, or whatever the blah blah blah was...

Lo and behold, upon opening the letter, I see... a pre-approval for their VISA card.

Really?

So I apply for a job and instead, I get offered their credit card. Should I consider this as a consolation prize?

I don't think I've ever had anything like that happen before.

Re: Ever apply for a job...

Wild. lol  I imagine they pulled your credit as part of the screening process and in doing that automagically added you to their "list"?  Dunno ... but hey, if it is 0% APR, no AF, and 5 Delta Miles per dollar then heck yeah!  Consolation prize territory! lol

Re: Ever apply for a job...

A.  I would toss the app away.

B. They gave you insight into what type of company they are.

The only thing worse is if they called you back asking for a date.  This happened with the wife of a co-worker who applied for a job at a bar.  Shed didn't take the job and her would have been boss didn't get lucky.

Re: Ever apply for a job...

Did you send them a follow-up email?  This is a must.  Although, at this point, it's probably too late.

Re: Ever apply for a job...

Did not send them a follow up email, to be honest.

Last thing I expected was to get a credit card offer from them.

I wonder if this is some new hidden tactic now: "Post a job, send out CC offers to applicants."

Re: Ever apply for a job...

In retrospect, definitely hilarious.

I'm getting my credit report in a few weeks. I'll see if they actually softed me for this.

If you want a credit card at Fulton Bank, just apply for a job :/
