Re: FAVORITE BOB DYLAN SONG

recorded by Dylan: Tangled Up in Blue

written by Dylan: Tomorrow Is Such a Long Time, covered by Rod Stewart on "Every Picture Tells a Story"
There's beauty in the silver singin' river
There's beauty in the sunlight in the sky
But none of these, and nothing else can steal the beauty
that I remember in my true love's eyes
The two people with the worst voices on the planet, and such a lovely song. Smiley Happy (I'm talking technique, not performance)

Yes I agree that Dylan's music is better sung by other people.  Rod the Mod isnt as bad to me, except when he went Disco.  I me be temted to add Joe Cocker to the list with the same reasoning.

Re: FAVORITE BOB DYLAN SONG

My kids were with me in the car the first time they heard Dylan sing All Along the Watchtower, instead of Jimi Hendrix. That was pretty funny, especially when I told them that he wrote it, so he could sing it any way he liked.

I liked Joan Baez's mini-revenge for her treatment by Dylan on Diamonds and Rust, when she did a dead-on imitation of his voice in "Simple Twist of Fate."

I was actually never a fan of either, but I can respect their work.

Re: FAVORITE BOB DYLAN SONG

Richie Havens does a killer version as well.  Dave Mason does a good live version and it was my understanding that he played on the Hendrix version as well.

By Fairport:

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
