Score simulator says paying down $1000 will increase my score to around 640 (I'm currently 624).
So I pay down $2900 and it goes up ... *drumroll please* ... ZERO.

Nada.
I don't know how accurate the simulator is. But until the balance reports to the CRA's you will not see anything. It is not the current balance on the CC that matters. It is the balance that is reported to the CRA's.
If not mistaken its good to at least report some utilization like 5%.... I dont trust any stimulator on any credit report website.

Can't comment on the score simulator but how do these payments affect your reported utilization?
