Hello Everyone,
I thought it might be interesting for all of us to share our
shopping plans for Cyber Monday 2008.
I don't plan on buying anything today, but I'll definitely
be window shopping. Items get cheaper the closer we
get to Christmas, so I'll use today and the rest of this
week to check around the Net and see what's out there.
Then I'll zero in on my choices next week.
A big drawing card for me is free shipping. But that also
means I have to buy what I want far enough in advance
to get everything before Christmas.
And gift cards are pretty much out for me. I find them a
bit impersonal.
Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts. Enjoy the day!!!!

I won't be going shopping, but I just ordered 100 bucks worth of free Barnes & Noble gift cards from my Amex rewards. And most of that comes from paying monthly bills for a year, no finance charges and less effort than paying online!
I love free money!!!!
Buy gifts today? It's only December 1. What's the rush?
A quick shopping update:
I've been dividing my time this morning between CNBC and Bloomberg.
Apparently, a lot of shoppers aren't really focused on Cyber Monday per se.
But they did use the Net to do research before going out to shop during the
Thanksgiving weekend.
Their style of shopping is being described as "hit and run" and "retrieving" .
They know the deal they want..and they go into the store and get it. That's it.
If the deal's not there once they enter the store, they're leaving empty handed.
Better to wait until another day when prices hopefully come down than to hang
around in the store and be tempted to spend money beyond their budgets.
It's a very disciplined approach, and shoppers seem to be following it across
the country right now.
Top stores over the weekend that people frequented:
WalMart (consumer items, food and gas)
Kroger (food items and gas)
CVS (drugstore items and limited food items)
So I guess the bottom line is that folks are very frugal with their dollars right now.
And even though gas is much cheaper, shoppers seem to be focused on
stores that let them get multiple things done without driving all over town.
People are enjoying lower gas prices, but they don't necessarily trust that they'll last...

I heard something on the news this morning that they really don't expect a huge sales rush today for Cyber Monday...its kind of a hangover from when peoples work computers were much faster than home, thus the big rush for people returning to work from the holiday weekend. Still plenty of sales, I openend my email this morning and had about 20 emails since 10 pm last night, all sales promos. However, I won't be shopping today...I am pretty much done, just a few things like See's candy to pick up.
Amen!!

Would I be considered part of your extended family? Its never too early to shop for a gift for me.
nope, no gifts today, just window shopping.
we buy lots of gift cards because most of the people we shop for (ourselves included) are picky.
