How does the Target debit card discount work, specifically?

- Do you need to tell the cashier you'll be using it (i.e., he/she manually discounts transaction amount)?

- Or once it is used, 5% automatically comes off the transaction total?

Once you use it, the discount automatically comes off the total and is on your receipt.

The only thing I wish they'd be able to do was scan your drivers license in the store if you didn't have your card. I usually forget to bring it and it's not consider a grocery store  by BCE.
