I have done it with Discover since i felt like having the Red colored card and My Chase Debit card since it was filthy and Couldn't read the security number
I can say the biggest thing that turns me off is those permanent scratches you get from sliding your card through the signpads at retail shops or the card readers at gas stations. Makes it look "scratchy" whenever the light shines down on the card!
Other than that, rubbing alcohol or water with a microfiber cloth will do the job!
