I was transferred from a hospital to a rehab facility after heart bypass surgery. I was told that I had to take an ambulance ride to that place. I did. A few months later,
I get a bill in the mail for $1220 dollars and it was only a five mile trip. My brother tells me only to pay what medicaid would pay for the trip which is about $250. I have paid close to $ 200 for this and have made the creditor aware that is all I intend to pay. What aremy rights here in an instance where I feel I am being taken advantage of?
One more point, my insurer covered nothing on this bill.

Typically your insurer would cover this if it is medically necessary, seems so given the nature of the surgery. If I were you I'd balance two fronts:
1. make sure the bill does not go to collections and negative impact your credit record, which means pay the bills as they come in
2. Ask the ambulance company to reach out to the insurance company and have them pay it And call your insurance company and ask them where in their policy does it say they will not pay,READ that provision to understand your rights/where you stand
The goal is to get the insurance company to pay for all of it and keep it off your credit report as a potential negative
