What do you prefer? Push/ Self-Propelled/Riding? Pursuade me....
I prefer a self propelled mulching mower with OHV engine and aluminum deck. Good option if you have a steeply sloped backyard and a smallish 1/4 acre lot size.
I have a self propelled (5 speed) John Deere JX-75 that I bought new in 1999 for $795 that just won't break. I have a 15,000 SF yard mix of hills and flat front yard.
You might look into a JOhn Deere Credit Card - last year they approved me for a $15,000 credit limit with 12 months same as cash zero percent (like GE/Sync you HAVE TO pay it in 12 months or you get hit with back interest). This card does NOT report if you pay within terms so any balance is hidden from your reports.
I'm all set to buy a smaller riding tractor like the 130 or 245, but my old mower just won't die and it still has the original spark plug .....
Depends on how large an area you mow.
I mow about 2 3/4 acres so I bought a Toro Zero turn several years ago and I'll never go back to a lawn tractor type mower. If you've got a small area a self propelled walk behind mower should work.
My Toro was getting old so I bought a new Hustler to replace it. They have 0% financing on these right now which was a plus.
