I figured I would mention this in case someone is in similiar position. For awhile I had a business landline running in to my home. They put me in a single phone line and internet package. Even though I didn't need the internet I took the package because they told me it be cheaper than the single line. I wanted to keep my business number. Apparently it was only a limited time offer and then the price shot up. Last month I looked at my bill and I was paying almost $200 a month for a single landline (over double the price of my cell phone plan)! This was unacceptable so I called verizon and wanted to cancel the business line and forward my business calls to my cell phone (also with verizon).
Verizon wanted to charge me a monthly fee for this service of like $40 a month and charge me for each and every call per minute! Needless to say I was livid. Then I went to the verizon wireless store and for $20 extra a month I was able to add a second line to my cell phone plan and transfer my landline number over. I also got home connect as part of that price. This basically is an antena that I plug my landline in to and it lets me use my landline phone over the cell network. So now I am getting basically the same exact benefits (including seperate voice mail boxes, unlimited text, calling [keeping in mind I never used the internet] etc) but paying $20 a month instead of $200. The reception of the calls has been decent so far. It takes a little more time when calling out and sometimes I have to redial numbers, buit for the savings I'll deal with it. I wish I knew about this option sooner as I didn't realize you could move a landline number to a cell phone.
