Tax Question

Good evening ladies and gents!

My fiancee started a rehabilitation program in 2014 for her student loans.  She has made enough payments for the agency to stop garnishing her wages, but the judgement is stil showing on her credit report.  The judgement will be removed when she completes the rehab program in May.

My question is....  since they are no longer garnishing her wages (but the judgement still exists), will the government intercept her tax refund when we file this year?

If there's a chance of them taking the refund, we might wait until April 14th, or possibly file for an extention and wait for the judgement to go away.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Re: Tax Question

The IRS will not keep the tax return unless you owe them money, and typically garnishments last until the debt is repaid.
