The perfect microcosm of our economy...

A high end steakhouse in my town went out of business a while ago.  The building has been vacant for some time now.  However, it has recently been purchased and a new business will be opening in it soon...a pawnshop!

The closing of the steakhouse actually happened quite a long time before the economy dropped off, but, still, I think it is ironic that it was converted from expensive steakhouse to pawnshop.

That's funny. Was this a chain or a locally owned restaurant?

Small chain--Prime Quarter.  There are about 5 or 6 of them remaining in Wisconsin/Illinois.

ETA: Now that I look back at their website, "high end" may not be the right term, but it still made for an expensive night out.

I like Prime Quarter. I haven't been there in a few years, but I always enjoy the idea of making my own steak at the restaurant. I like mine medium well, and can never get a chef to get it right. I wonder if the one nearest me is still open. Smiley Surprised

If you go look for it, make sure you bring some old jewelry along too...just in case there is something different there now.Smiley Very Happy

Yeah, actually now that I look at it again, the pawnshop wouldn't even have to change the sign out front--Prime Quarter would work as a pawnshop name too, wouldn't it?
