Thinking about getting a PS4

I'm a PC gamer but lately there have been a couple of games that are PS4 exclusive or at least console only games that I want to play. I'm considering picking up a ps4 slim bundle. I can gte a new one with a game for like $267. This is much cheaper than the ps4 pro which is the latest console out there. Should I spend the extra money on the ps4 pro? The first issue would be I would not get a game with it and it costs more money. Next would be the fact that my tv is several years old. My tv is not 4k or HDR. Therefore I don't think the pro would be a huge benefit to me now. I don't really intend to upgrade my television within the next year and by the time I do then we may be talking about the ps5 coming out. Any thoughts on if I should pick up the slim or go for the pro?

I'm also considering getting the PS4, just to play that new Horizon game and maybe pick up Uncharted 4 also. If it's just to play the exclusive games then get the slim, that is what I plan to do since my TV is also not the latest.

I'd also vote againist the PS4 pro, but I'd also vote against buying the slim. Because hey, does it really matter that its a little more slim? If not go ahead and spend $100-120 and get the first model used off Craigslist. They have no issues and work just fine.

As someone who also games primarily on PC (did however pick up the switch), I'd personally go for the "pro" if not just for having the option to play games at a lower resolution with a higher framerate.

Re: Thinking about getting a PS4

I purchased the PS4 when it came out- first generation, I play all the games I want, with standard HDMI- go check out Gamestop and get a used one with their warranty

Re: Thinking about getting a PS4

I ended up getting the ps4 slim with uncharted 4 for like $268. Way cheaper than the pro and I bought horizon zero dawn since that was the game that made me really want a ps4. Plus i want to be able to pick up the show and madden neither of which you can get on pc. Also the last of us looks cool and I want to play red dead redemption 2 when it comes out.

Re: Thinking about getting a PS4

Get the cheaper model.

I just upgraded to a 4K TV and frankly, yes, the images are clearer BUT that shouldn't stop you from a pS4. As long as you have decent frame rate you're fine.

Most TV's are decent enough. Unless you plan on competitive play and see yourself joining the eSports network, your TV is fine. HDMI is your friend.

I primarily play Xbox One but have Overwatch for PS4. If you decide on that game, hmu.

References: I was a pro player for CoD Black Ops 1

This is also why I won't ditch my Cap1 PS card. 10x pts for PSN purchases.

AND... get an external HD and the highest internet you can afford.
