Using my earned points this week for a well earned vacation.
First family vacation EVER taken that wasn't a visit to family other than a 3 day trip to D.C. last year.
3 days in LA at the Crown Plaza using points from DW's IHG
2 days at the Marriott Marquis using points from the Marriott Premier
1 day at the LAX Renaissance using Marriott points.
Arrived on United using points from my United Club card. (DW and DS were upgraded to first class)
I had 2 nights booked at the Fairmont, but the dates were blocked out sometime after the initial booking last winter.
I'm going to have to use those before the end of Feb so I don't lose them. Probably a weekend getaway in Dallas with DW.
My points were earned on the card as well as transferred from UR and MR programs.
The rental car was going to be paid for with points from Barclay Arrival, but they acted silly last summer and I had to use them up on a flight to Denver next April.
I'm still a neophyte with the points game, but it works.
(Still gonna spend $1500 on food and parking though) life ain't free

Nice trip! Which one re: Crown Plaza - airport or harbor?
I had to do the Airport.
The harbor was blacked out for points on those days.
The view in San Diego on the next leg more than makes up for it though

Yeah, if I went up to the roof I could literally kick a soccer ball and hit the harbor one haha. Would've been a small world exercise, but San Diego is flatly awesome.
