Re: Who actually signs their credit cards?

I never sign mine.  If, on the extremely rare occasion that a merchant notices and will not accept without a signature, I will sign it in front of the merchant and finish my transaction.

Re: Who actually signs their credit cards?

I never have and never will sign the cards. The pen ink wears off anyway. If they want verification, they can ask for my ID. As long as they can verify the card this way it is unacceptable for a merchant to turn down my form of payment.

Whatever happened to the pictures on the front of cards?

I forgot to shave and no one believed it was me :smileytongue:

Actually I think that fell out when most merchants started just letting people scan their own card.

So yeah, then there's not a ton of point in the signature... I saw a cool demo where the card itself had a six-button keypad, and you had to "activate" the mag stripe and the card number (on the front) with a PIN number... You could also activate different accounts in the same card... Super awesome, hoping that's still in the pipeline. I'll try to find the link.

EDIT: http://www.gizmag.com/go/8231/ Not a website I frequent, so please exercise caution :smileyhappy:

So if I was in-line at a checkout, I would have to pull my card from my wallet, put my stuff down, select what account I wanted to bill, enter a pin on a small six-digit keypad affixed to the face of my card, and then swipe my card?  That sounds like the last card I would want to use while trying to pay for something.

Re: Who actually signs their credit cards?

I generally write 'See Id' on mine but around here, the shops/store rarely even check for anything.
