Fact: I started my repair journey, in part, after getting denied after a sleep number bed purchase attempt. I never tried again, and likely never will. My folks have one and I personally wasn't too impressed and didn't realize that until after we tried to purchase it. They also complained about the noise the air makes, but they are light sleepers. They also said that the bed obviously doesn't perform when the power goes out. DW and I bought a memory foam bed from Macys a year ago after our move and we aren't impressed with that medium. I get very hot at night and the foam wears out after a while. Our next purchase will be the tried and trusted spring bed.
