I recently finished the rehab program on my student loans. Navient picked the loans up immediately and I've received all my paperwork. I recently spoke with them regarding repayment options and was told that I could consolidate my loans into a direct loan through US Dept of Ed. That would make me eligible to participate in the graduated repayment program. This seems to be my only option to lower my payment amount. Has anyone done this? My only concern is I've heard that with a consolidation, it could hurt your average age of credit and I don't want to take a hit on that. Thank you!
