Applying as co-signor with daughter for student loan through Wells Fargo

I recently applied as a co-signor for my daughters student loans through Wells Fargo.  We went through them since i am a member of USAA and that is who they refer students to.  I was denied by Wells Fargo due to two federal tax liens that have been paid and released and one 30 day late over 2 years ago on a car payment.  My current Equifax score is 733 with no other negative entries.  Those are the only reasons I am being declined.  Has anyone else had the same situation with WF and if so are the any suggestions on how to go around their system.  Trying to talk to anyone with authority is impossible.  I even faxed a copy of my most recent CR to them along with the tax lien releases.

Is your daughter not able to get federal loans? Why private student loans?

They wouldn't pull credit scores for the federal loans in her name.
