Closed accounts on credit report

I have a few accounts listed as closed on my credit report. They are from when Fed Loans took over most student loans. I have the accounts from the origanal creditor listed as closed accounts. Should I dispute these as they now belong to Fed Loans and are reporting as such? Would getting them removed help or hurt my credit score?

Re: Closed accounts on credit report

As long as the original accounts report correctly that they were closed, there's no need to dispute them.  Just because a debt was transferred doesn't remove the old tradeline from your report - it stays there as part of your credit history until it ages off.  If these are positive accounts, you really want them to stay around as long as possible to boost your score.
