Consolidated SL still showing as in collection

I defaulted on a SL some years back.  The loans were transfered to the federal government, I believe as a result of the gov taking over direct lending.  They were Sallie Mae, but then went to ECMC.  I believe there were 5 loans, all to the tune of about $15,000.  I eventually was able to consolidate them, so I no loans in bad standing and I am back in school and receiving federal grants and aid....something I would NOT be able to do if I was still in default, and I assume I would not be able to do if they were still in collections.

My TU report shows these as open accounts and in collection, since 2009, though the consolidation was done in 2010.   I have disputed this, but I wanted to check in here.  If five loans were in default, and they were later consolidated and have been in deferrment ever since, is there any chance I am not within my rights to have these shown as closed or transferred or consolidated...something?
