I literally spent nearly an hour and a half on the phone with Nelnet today, trying to explain that my Account Status is not being reported correctly. It was insane.
I've been trying to fix this for two years. I've had enough. I'm filing a complaint with the FTC.

I hope you did file something w the ftc. I have an old sl that is reporting as a neg on my report and the sol is up for this to be reporting on my credit report. I have disputed this hoping it goes away!

How is it reporting? What do you think is reporting incorrectly? What is Nelnet saying about how it's reporting?

How is it reporting? What's the status? Anything being reported incorrectly?

It's still being reported as DEFAULTED LOAN.
I have two letters in my possession stating that "Any defaulted credit information was reported as deleted to all major credit reporting agencies on the 30th of June, 2009. If this information is being reported in error by a credit reporting agency, you should dispute that information with them, in writing." This is from the Ombudsman office at the Department of Education.

I don't know much about SL reporting, but if I had a letter in hand and if it was reporting anything other than what their letter indicated, then I'd call back and escalate it past the frontline CSRs to supervisors. I'd read their letter each time. I'd also write them and enclose a copy of the letter and maybe a screen shot of how it is reporting now and gracefully ask them to remove the incorrect info. I'd be persistent in that process for at least 6 months before filing compaints, contracting the CRAs, etc.

I've done all that, and I've been persistent for over a year. They have copies of the letters, copies of my credit reports, copies of screen shots. I just can't seem to get anyone's attention.

My next step after that would be to look for an agency or organization (govt-backed) that handles complaints on student loans, as prev. mentioned. I'm sure there's one on the federal level aside from the FTC. Try your state and theirs too (re-read that it the letter came from Uncle Sam). I'd also look at complaint sites like planetfeedback.com. I'm not keen on disputes....almost always gets verified.
How did they respond to your mention of their letter?

I haven't been able to get anyone to even acknowledge receiving the letter, though it's been emailed, faxed and postal-mailed to them.
I'm starting to take this personally. LOL!
