No sign of Student Loan on CR

I was granted a federal loan in 1994.  My federal tax returns were withheld in 2007, 2008, and 2009 to pay for the defaulted loan.  Why is there no sign of this federal loan on my credit report?

Re: No sign of Student Loan on CR

I have nothing to back this up officially, but I believe that defaulted student loans are treated like any other negative account I.e. after seven years they are off your credit report.   This doesn't mean that the DOE won't do everything in its power to collect on them and otherwise interfere with your life.  It just means they won't be listed on your credit report.

Again, this is just my own experience and that of a couple of friends.
