Paying off student loans early - effect on credit score?

I'm a year or two away from paying off my student loans but I would like to pay them off early if possible.  Will that have a negative effect on my credit score?  I have no other loans.  No mortgage either - I hope to buy a home someday but that may be years away.

I use my credit cards daily but make weekly payments and rarely get charged interest.  I never have more than $500 on credit cards at one time.

If I'm debt-free but regularly use (and pay off) credit cards will I maintain my credit score?

Thanks

When I paid off my individual student loans, it had an incrediable effect (positive) on my credit score!

That was six years ago, and the score is pretty close to what it was then.
