I have a loan with Sallie Mae for 23,000 and its currently on the IBR-plan. I have a 120 late from last year and I plan on sending GW letters. Has anyone had any success?

I think only a handful have, but don't give up.  You never know if you will be one of the lucky ones.

Re: Sallie Mae

I am attempting a new letter in hopes of success but I've sent 22 letters and in different formats in hopes of success but have not had any.

Re: Sallie Mae

I'm still disputing two lates with them myself because they're wrong despite continually "verifying" the info to the CRAs and a consumer advocate telling me they have a policy to only remove inaccurate information (and of course, they're always right!)

First of all, they don't report the first time until 90 days late as a courtesy...if all you show is a 120, I'd ask for detailed account info in the months leading up to that delinquency...when they sent the first notice, when they spoke to you, details of the conversation, forbearance/deferment beginning and end dates, any and everything to support that you were actually late and they were unsuccessful in attempts to resolve the issue with you.  You should be able to get that info from a regular CSR, but you'll have to take it to the office of the consumer advocate to present your case.

In my situation, their own documentation doesn't even support a delinquency on my account...while they went back and forth with the consolidation company about an underpayment for almost 2 months, I never received any notification that the account was unpaid, past due, or anything.  Furthermore, my forbearance was in effect until 7/10, but they report I was 90 days late in April?!?  Even with all that, it's a battle I hope to be done with sooner rather than later...I'm waiting on a call back from the office of the consumer advocate now so good luck to you!

Ask if you can back date the forbearance request this will as well allow them to remove the lates, unless it's already paid in full?

Re: Sallie Mae

It was in forbearance before and through the time they claim I was late...and the loan was paid in full a month before they posted a 90 day late!

Re: Sallie Mae

They did the same crap to me. Now I keep very good records of everything.
