My student loans are reported in six separate trade lines and also reported a second time (6 + 6=12 separate TLs) due to OC sending to CA.
With CA I have paid on time for 3 years and called and spoke to helfpul woman. She said she is going to change status from "late" (old late pymnts) to "current."
She is doing so and sending letter to confirm this.
We are working on our credit for applying for a mortgage.
Should I try to call OC and see if they will pull back loans to the OC?
Or will that hurt my scores due to all the lates on the OC? Or because of the good payment history with CA will they report good payments though they were made with CA?
or should I leave the loans with CA and GW the OC on late payment reporting? Are they both allowed to report?
Last option... we could pay off the loans ($14000). Would that look bad prior to buying a home showing such a large pay off on a student loan collection?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
Also...
he loans were not rehabbed...just paid it on time for 3 years.
The OC student loans reporting says "Account delinquent 120 days past due date. Student loan perm assigned to government claim filed by with goverment for insured portions of balance on loan last reported delinquencies 04/2010. Last paid 04/10."
I guess "perm" means permanently?
Collection Agency / Current payments says "Account Status ' Collection ', "last reported delinquencies 03/13"
(This is the one i called on friday and she confirmed i have paid on time for past three years and is adjusting to reflect that. i just wonder about the
"collection" title of it)
How do i fix this to make it presentable for a mortgage and score increase?
Have you taken a look at your loans in the NSLDS.gov system? If not, check there and you will see if your loans are considered to be in default. There will be a notation at the top saying so as well as on the individual loan itself. Are your loans federal or private?
i set up a pin but when i go to the loan review and enter my data it says incorrect pin even though i just got a confirmation that it was set up.
do i look at loan review as opposed to loan exit counseling?
No, the counseling doesn't show you anything specific about the status of your loans.
Waiting for PIN verification? 1-3 days.
Per my report the OC was EDSouth/WJPMorgan. It shows:
Reported 04/2010. Opened 09/1996. Last Active 04/2010. Installment Educational. 9 Late payments from 07/09 - 03/10
Balance $0. Student Loan Assigned to Government
CA is Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA-EDS)
Reported 03/2013. Opened 04/2010. Last Active 02/2013. Installment Educational 0 late payments
(Currently says closed, late over 120, collection agency but we confirmed with her last week that this was incorrect and she is adjusting and sending letter to confirm problem is fixed)
