Student Loans Not Yet in Repayment

What effect do student loans have on your credit before you start to repay them?  Or, before they go into repayment?

I have about 6 or so accounts with Sallie Mae that are currently deferred (I have been in school continuously, this isn't a deferment I applied for).  Just wondering if these are bad for my scores.

I have seen installment loans get a score boost after the utilization comes off 100%.

Don't worry about these right now- work on keeping your revolving account balances close to zero and getting a great job after graduation-

SL's can be great  they can establish positive credit and can be the oldest accounts people have. - just never be late.
