US Department of Education - SUCCESS 90 DAY LATE REMOVAL

Just wanted to give some hope for those lurking here!!!

Just a quick recapture of my situation.  Student loans were “SUPPOSE” to be in forbearance, but were not due to my mistake.  I pleaded with them back in early this year to adjust the 90 day late reporting on all 3 credit agencies to remove the 90 day lates with no success.  I then contacted the Ombudsman with no success as well.

I started to give up recently and then I decided to try again.  I opened another dispute with the Ombudsman with them reporting five 90 day lates for one single payment.  I waited a week, and then I received a call this morning from the Ombudsman office; although they provided the Ombudsman with the paper trail of letters and phone calls, in good faith, they decided to remove all derogatory information in the next 48 hours.

I was ecstatic, I almost came to tears.  The ombudsman office will be faxing over the confirmation from the US Department of Education detailing the removal and should see an update within the next 48 hours.

Good Luck to all; don’t give up!

The Ombudsman is an office of the federal government with the purpose of helping borrowers resolve issues with student loans.

Their website is here: http://studentaid.ed.gov/redirects/ombudsman-ed-gov

Re: US Department of Education - SUCCESS 90 DAY LATE REMOVAL

Thank you for that link. I have submitted a request form to review my case. My old lender ED FINANCIAL had me late on 5 loans for 90 days each. I was in deferrement when I lost my job and contacted all 3 Credit bureaus and they still wont update that, meaning ED FINANCIAL refuses to correct that error.
