When do loans post?

When do current year student loans post to credit reports, is it not until the school year is over?   I ask because I had a loan start in Sept but it's not on any reports yet.

 I just got a loan in September and the student loan refund in October and that's when they added it to my credit report. I guess it depends on the lender.
