A private student loan? A government student loan?

Not sure about private student loan.....but I am pretty sure.

Government......I've never had one. It is based on need, not credit.

For a Stafford Loan (the one that you get by applying with the FAFSA) doesnt look at your credit report at all. A private one will very likely pull a hard inquiry, as those are actually based on your credit.
