Will taking out a student loan hurt my credit score?

Hey All,

I'm about to take out ~$30K for a graduate degree. I've heard conflicting reports about whether student loan debt hurts one's credit. Can anybody confirm?

i graduated last spring and i'm now paying back 28K. it didn't hurt my credit. just don't be late on payments.. and pay extra each month if possible.
