I just received notice today that my graduate school (in Canada) will no longer process US Direct Loans and that we are to instead find private loans to finance our education. This is my last year before I graduate with a Ph.D. so leaving is not an option. I've never taken out a private loan. I don't even know where to start. Where should I begin looking and what are the rates likes? What do I need to watch out for? I should probably mention that the Fall term begins in four weeks.
