Re: May-15 Check in Thread

Kenny - can you set up the thread with the various symbols representing our gardening achievements somewhere that is easy to find. Looking and I can not find (it had the html code we could drop into our siggys).

Re: May-15 Check in Thread

I am new to gardening but know I need to stop app'ing Smiley Happy I apped for a Venture card on Friday and was instantly approved for $10,000 which is way higher than any of my credit cards I have currently.

Cards: Amex BCP $1000, Amex Everyday $500, Cap1 Quicksilver $500 and Cap1 Venture $10,000 I am happy with these cards and will allow them to grow with me. I would like to garden until May 2017 when all my inquires fall off my report. I had a serious apping spree starting January 2015.

Current Score: Trans: 671 Ex: 663 and Eq: 638

Goal: 750 and up across the Board.

Well, sometimes in order for us to truly garden, we have to plant some seedlings. You're fine! Smiley Happy I'd rather have a card added to my profile that I can actually use to make good rewards/aka money back on my purchases than to garden and actually use subpar credit cards that I have that aren't as good as the one I want. Obviously, there is a tipping point to that.. at some point you have enough cards and rewards systems in place and that new card just isn't worth it to obtain at that time. But, everyone is at a different stage in their journey, and it isn't good to compare your situations at all.

Congrats on the new additions, and may the next 2 years be filled with patience, success, and results for you! Smiley Wink

Re: May-15 Check in Thread

I want to thank all those who contribute to the forums.  For the first time all of my scores are yellow.  My TU score has bumped to 717 on FICO, 712 (Discover) ! My EQ is 677 up 50 points since 1/15 but moving slowly. EX is 688 - dropped 10 points due to recent inquiries.

Cards that I have added since January are:

Discover opened 2/15 - SL $1600 - CLI today, now $2300

Overstock Mastercard (FNBO) 2/15 $1,700

Chase Freedom 2/15 $3,500

NFCU Platinum Visa $6,700

Chase Marriott Rewards 3/15 $5,000

Chase Southwest Premier 3/15 $4,500 tried to recon for the $500 for the siggy, but no go,

Macy's 4/15 $1,000  and drumroll please...

Hilton Honors American Express 4/15 $4,000 super excited that they took me back, but AMEX changed policy and I missed the backdate which would have been to 1989 Smiley Frustrated

I know that it is time to garden. But while gardening,

  • requested CLI for my NFCU Cash rewards - $7,700 sp cli credit limit  - now $20K and a 1% APR reduction- I'm still dancing.
  • $700 CLI for the Walmart Store cards.  This card had been at $200 for 2 years so I will take it and keep trying to grow it.
  • $1,000 CLI for my TJX rewards card - same 2 year span now $1,500.
  • $100 CLI and 4% APR reduction for my CAPone card, Card is 5 years old, but still only a $900 CL- will hold out a little longer before closing it.  Will space this closure with my other closures.

Waiting for new limits to report to see what happens.  Current utilization is 16% down from 94% in January.  Going to close my Applied Bank and Merrick bank, they are both my oldest cards, and will decrease my available credit by $4,700 and my AAOA in 10 years, but aren't good cards for me anymore and have made enough off of me. Tying to decide when to close 2 SCT store cards that I don't think I will use, but don't want Commenity to cut me off!

No more credit card apps except possibly a Care Credit Cards for some very expensive dental work and maybe a Select comfort card to get a bed to address some physical issues, if I can get them at 0% and not lower my credit score in the process. .Wondering should I wait about 6 months?

All advice welcome on what to do next!

Brand new to the Forums, and I'm thrilled to be here!  This is such a great community, I've already learned so much in the few days I've been here.  I love reading about all of the success stories so many of the members have experienced; seeing their progress gives me hope for my own success, and it's comforting knowing I'm not alone on this journey to fiscal responsibility.

Currently, here are my scores from myFICO:

EQ: 579

EX: 582

TU: 562

I can't wait to connect with more of you and fill you all in each month with my progress!
