Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge 2018!

Hi!

I'm new to this forum. I wish to improve my scores and apply for a home loan. I am not quite up to speed in my computer literacy and can't quite figure out how to leave a signature. If someone could walk with me step-by-step and help, that would be great! I don't really know how this works, but I wish to pay down my credit cards and build up my scores.

Hello Everyone!
Through my journey I have tried to get serious about my credit and financial well-being since my early years but the spark just wasn't there. It indeed was from a lack of education and understanding the very importance of it. So of course I had to learn the hard way, however it has been beneficial to me and my family as well as my peers. I eat, sleep & dream of credit. It is the 2nd most important thing in life after the Gospel of Christ. The ways of the world I must say. I now under stand that cash is not King all the time and those who lack in their credit ratings pay more for things. So yes a light bulb has gone off, it is the second light unto my path to secure the future of my family with the Wisdom of God! So don't mind me folks I'm just here to chew up the meat & spit out the bones!!!!

My Goals are to eliminate all negative items from my report by all means necessary, which I'm close to achieving however Experian...well she is one tough cookie.
My next goal would be to pay down all my credit cards to a $0 balance, well I actually just did that, I will update my scores once it's been reported.

I already own my home, so now I'm looking into purchasing a childcare business, and that's why this fitness challenge is important to me.

What's in my wallet:
Capital One: $300
Credit One: $300
First Premier: $300
Horizon: $750
Starter cards, yes I'm aware...I'm rebuilding, this is just the beginning 💪💪

Welcome, Zeph! Glad you are here!

You have the cards to get you started and, with good management, your scores should go up. Rule of thumb is to not let more than 10% of a card's limit post to your statement. If these are your first cards ever, the important thing right now is to use them and pay in full each month. You want to build that positive payment history on your credit reports.

I am looking forward to seeing your progress! Smiley Happy

Hi, nunulondon!

The Fitness Challenge is setting your own goals: credit, savings, financial, basically whatever your goals are to improve your financial health, FICO scores, etc. You can post an introduction and your goals in here. Then, in each month's check-in thread, you can post updates, revisions, etc. You can check out the February 2018 Check In thread to get an idea of how it works and what others have chosen as their goals.

Adding your card pics is not a requirement, and you have to have a certain number of posts before you'll have access to do that anyways.

Hi, sisepuede!

I've notified one of our moderators about the trouble with your signature. Part of it might be that you haven't been on the forum or posted enough to put pictures in your signature. I know Kenny or one of the other Moderators will help out, though!

Paying down your credit cards and building up your scores are awesome goals, and most of us here are trying to do that too! The Fitness Challenge is a great place to work on that, and also the Garden thread over in the Credit Card section of the forum. Gardening is where you don't apply for any new credit or open any new accounts that require a hardpull on your credit reports. Not applying for credit is important when getting ready to apply for a home loan because lenders will look to see if you've been applying for a lot of new credit. They will want to see no hardpulls within the last 12 months before you apply for the home loan.

Looking forward to seeing you reach your goals! Smiley Happy
