@Anonymous wrote:My question is if I do all things right, how much can I really see my scores go up?
Welcome! How much? It all depends on what changes on your CRs over the next many months. It also hinges on action taken to improve those reports.
Hi All,
So I am a little late to this challlenge but I have been kind of doing it on my own but I had utilization at nearly 95% currently down to 10% and have a number of late payments (mostly due to just forgetting to pay! LAME!) and I have a Charge off from Citi from 6/2011, which is settled for less than amount due. I started having financial issues when I lost my job in April and my husband lost his job in August. We are in the process of a short sale on our home (it's only in his name thankfully) which is actually a good thing for us because the house is more than $200K upside down.
My scores are as follows:
06/2010- EQ 464
01/2012- EQ 512
01/2012-TU 517
02/12- EQ 569
My goal is to get in the 720's by 1/2013.
Hi all:
2006-2008 were the worst years of all my life, where I got charged off an AMEX cc AND a VISA. I had to use them to live because I became suddenly unemployed. So back three years from now I started to work again and faced the spike in my credit report; no one would lend me even a bicycle. I have a mortgage which had 180+ late payment days because of my hardship and so I began (slowly) to pay on time and re-establish my fiscal situation. As I healed back to normal, I established some agreements with the banks to repay my debts which ascended to over $15k and slowly began to pay my monthly debts. Four years after, my scores have improved and I was finally able to finance a new car.
Today my credit reports look cleaner, all of my bills paid on time and "as agreed" but the scar of the "charged-off" is still there for me to learn from my past mistakes, yet there to encourage and to inspire and to be crave to improve scores even more. Let me tell you: you can't beat the feeling of "you are doing great". You can't change your past, but you can certainly shape your future. You can't direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails.
Good luck Viktor
I am so glad to be a part of this year Fitness Challenge, and like others - I am ready to get started!
My current situation:
I have a discharged Bankruptcy - January 2006. I have been working the last 3 years to rebuild my credit. So far, I was able to buy a house July 2011, I have 2 Capital One Credit Card. I have two consumer card, Jared (only keep open due to length of history), and a Lowes card. I just applied for a Union card but don’t think I will be approved. I really regret applying for it; therefore will make it a point to not apply for anything the rest of the year.
With a dual Master Degree, I have mortgage size student loans.
Lastly, I have a personal loan from my credit union.
My goals:
Get my two Cap One credit cards down to 0-10%. Having the house ran it up, plus my credit limits are pretty low so it was easy to do.
To save for 3 month emergency (My longer term goal is 10-12 months but no way can happen by the end of 2012).
Cash is king. My house is a fixer upper, which I have been paying cash for all the work, and trying to do as much of it myself. So, my goal is to be still. Live with what I can and wait to tax time next year for some of the work.
Challenge for me will be to stay off those decorating websites, so will not get stress that I can’t have a Candice Olson type home. My starting score was pulled October 2011, and hoping that once I get my debt down that I will see more improvement but expect to be hit due to the recent credit inquiry.
Hey all--
Just a quick update. I started this goal shortly after my Chapter 13 discharge at the beginning of December. I quickly began cleaning and establishing and rebuliding. I am happy to report that from December 11 to February 15 my Score watch alert indicates my score has changed from a 481 to a 601! that 120pt climb! I wont get my quarterly update from TU until March so fingers crossed I think I can make it to the 700 club by the end of the summer. I have several CA and a Charge offs that are scheduled to drop off, my auto is 3400 bucks from being paid off I have been tripling payments because I want the tradeline to report. Its a rent to own loan so no reporting until its paid. I have 3 CC (Credit One and Orchard (horrible, but its a start) and WFNNB card that survived the BK. Im excited for the next chapter. I see me in my house by the end of the year. Im claiming it! Good luck to all!
Congratulations!!! That is a great increase in such a short time. You gave me hope to increase my score by 100 points within a couple of months!! Stay on the right path of success and when you claim it-you attain it-good luck!!!
Woohoo! Just got a notice today that my FICO score went up!! It was 611 at the beginning of the year, and it's gone up twice and is now at 647!!!! Super stoked =)
